دیده بان حقوق حیوانات: جشنواره قربانی یا ذبح هر پنج سال یکبار در نپال برگزار می شود و در آن هزاران حیوان قربانی توسط پیروان آئین هندو می شوند. در سال 2009 بیش از 250 هزار راس گاو، گوسفند، مرغ، موش، کبوتر و خوک قربانی شدند. این جشنواره با اعتراض شدید طرفداران حقوق حیوانات مواجه شده است.
به گزارش شبکه خبر جشنواره گادهیمای نام مراسمی مذهبی آیین هندو در نپال است که هر پنج‌سال، یکبار به طول ۲ روز برگزار می‌شود. در مراسم مذهبی گادهیمای، که میلیون‌ها زائر در آن شرکت می‌کنند، صدها هزار حیوان قربانی می‌شوند. پنج هزار بوفالو در ابتدای جشن خوشبختی در نپال سر بریده شدند، در این مراسم که در مرز نپال با هند برگزار می شود باید حدود 300 هزارحیوان در طول دو روز ذبح شوند تا خوشبختی را برای مردم این منطقه به ارمغان بیاورد. این جشنواره هر پنج سال یک بار برگزار می شود،آخرین فستیوال برگزار شده سال 2009 بود که در آن 250 هزار حیوان سر بریده شدند.حیوانات سربریده شده شامل بز ،پرندگان وبوفالو است.
برباور هندوها، قربانی‌کردن برای گادهیمای ، الهه هندو؛ شیطان را اسیر و به آن‌ها سعادت و خوشبختی ارزانی می‌کند.
